Educational Apps

If your kids, like mine, are glued to their Kindles, you are probably always searching for great apps that are actually educational. Through trial and error (and sadly, too many downloads of My Little Pony: Party of One app), I’ve put together a list of what I think are the best educational apps for Kindle.

Looking for free Kindle books? Here are my 5 Secret Ways to get Free Books for your Kindle!

My top 10 Favorite Kindle Educational Apps for Kids ages 5-8:

1. Stack the States

Stack the States is my son’s newest addiction. It teaches both geography of the United States and history, capitals, and more.

2. Starfall

There’s a reason many school districts recommend Starfall. It has numbers, songs, and read-aloud library books. This is the free version, but many schools have subscriptions, so check and see if you can log in through your child’s school.

3. TocoMail for Gmail

How old is old enough to have an email account? I set up Tocomail for my 7 year old. All email goes through my gmail account, and you can set it up so that YOU have control over the emails that come in and go out.

4. XtraMath

XtraMath adapts to the child’s math skill level. Again, this is a free version of a program many schools subscribe to.

5. Stack the Countries

By the same developers who brought you Stack the States, Stack the Countries helps children learn about world geography.
