My 5 Happy Things – 1/8/15

Happy Things

It’s a new year, and I’m starting a new weekly column here on Mindfully Frugal Mom: My 5 Happy Things.

Every week my 5 Happy Things will be different: they could be products, people, happenings, or just the fact that my butt looks good that week. WHO KNOWS.

Here it is: the very first installment of MY 5 HAPPY THINGS:

This picture showed up in my Facebook Memories. My daughter was about to turn 3 in this picture. Next week, we will celebrate her sixth birthday. I can hardly believe it’s possible she is such a big girl! And she still loves cuddles with me so that is a huge win.

2.  I was in a car accident right before Thanksgiving. Everyone is fine, but my car was totaled. I had a book on CD (it was this book and it was fabulous, btw).  The book on CD didn’t survive either, and when I was at the library this week, I was sure I’d have to pay for it, at a cost of over $60. When I told the librarian what happened, she decided to “forgive” my loss and take the charge off of my account. I was so touched by her sympathy and generosity.

3. THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER. I know, this makes me a terrible person, but I was legit STRESSED from Thanksgiving through New Years. I love getting back to the routine.

4.Naked Concealer

For Christmas, my sister-in-law brought me and our other SIL to Sephora with a $50 gift card. I spent part of mine on the Urban Decay Naked Concealer. I.LOVE.THIS.STUFF. I’m actually not sure how I made it 37 years without owning this concealer. My co-worker ASKED IF I HAD LOST WEIGHT when I was wearing it. Apparently it’s a cult favorite and I’m the very last one on the boat, but whatever. I know I’m making the dumbest non-smile ever here, but that skin is ON FLEEK.

5. I got Amy Poehler’s book, Yes, Please from the library. Super-jazzed to read it. Also, I will be sure not to leave it in my car.

What made you happy this week?

  1. Glad you’re OK Sara. So scary! Certainly puts everything in perspective, doesn’t it. Happy, healthy new year!

  2. I love this idea…and I never knew about that concealer either so you weren’t the last one. LOL I might have to try it since it has the ability to make you look skinnier. Miss ya girl!
