According to the calendar, Spring, the vernal equinox, officially begins on March 20. If you’re living in the Northeast, like I am, it sometimes seems like it will never come.  For the past two months we have been buried under at least 2 feet of snow at all times.

In fact, local papers proclaimed this February the Coldest. February. Ever.

coldest month

Ugh. That headline did not make me smile.

Let’s think spring, shall we? One of my favorite parts of spring is shedding all the layers we have to bundle up in when the temps stay below freezing for weeks. Of course, once I start removing what amounts to a sleeping bag’s worth of down and fleece I have been bundled in, I start noticing other, um, beauty issues.

I’ve been doing a few things to combat all my winter beauty woes and get ready for spring!

Easy Beauty Hacks to Make you Smile this Spring

First, my skin is ghostly pale, dry, and scratchy.  I recently received the tarte Maracuja Bronzing Serum in a recent BoxyCharm box and I love it because it is SO subtle and gentle – but super moisturizing.  Perfect for getting my face ready for spring!  I use this serum after I wash my face using the Oil Cleansing Method, and right before I put on my makeup.

Colgate Optic White

I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee this winter. A LOT. I can definitely see it in my teeth, surprisingly. They are just not as white as they are in the summer, when I don’t usually drink coffee. Since I’m all about the easy win – something easy to do to give me a little boost – I love Colgate® Optic White® Express White toothpaste. In only three days of use*, my teeth felt noticeably whiter, and all I had to do was brush! No strips, no extra steps, no hassle. I was going to brush my teeth anyway!

Colgate Smile

Colgate Express White Toothpaste has 2 times more of the professionally recommended whitening ingredient – hydrogen peroxide -vs. Optic White Sparkling Mint.

See? It makes me smile.

Plus, it’s super-easy to find at Walmart.

White Smile

I love that three days* later my smile is just a little brighter. I’ve been loving a red lip lately (my lippie of choice is the Bite Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil Pomegranate ), and gorgeous white teeth make any lip look pop! I have sensitive teeth, and sometimes whitening toothpaste can be irritating, but I didn’t find that to be true at all with the Colgate® Optic White® Express White toothpaste.

Finally, every other shower, I like to use my homemade body polish to exfoliate and slough off all the dead, dry skin. After I rinse it off in the shower I can still feel the moisture in my skin for hours.

Bonus beauty tip: I totally neglect my nails in the winter. The dry air is terrible, my cuticles are bleeding, and it seems not even worth the effort. In preparation for spring, I’ve been massaging my cuticles with coconut oil every day, and I can really tell the difference. It makes my nail beds stronger and the skin more pliable and soft!
