Cherry Syrup Recipe | Make your Own Natural Cherry Seltzer!

Cherry Syrup Recipe

It’s summer, so I’ve been drinking a LOT of water. A LOT. And frankly, I’m kind of sick of it. So I started drinking flavored sparkling water, but it is expensive, and it contains a lot of chemicals that I just don’t want to ingest. I got some beautiful sweet cherries in my Farm Share recently, so I decided to try to make my own cherry syrup recipe to add to some seltzer water.

Some of my culinary experiments are massive fails. This one, surprisingly, worked great! If you’re jonesing for something other than just plain water, make this Cherry Seltzer. It’s delish and refreshing.

You can also add your cherry syrup to any Healthy Fruit Smoothie Recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sweet ripe cherries, pitted
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions:

1. Add the cherries, water, honey, and lemon juice to a small saucepan and bring to a low boil.

2. Let the mixture simmer on medium-low heat for 8 minutes, or until the cherries are quite soft.

3. Once the mixture is cool, blend it together. I LOVE my Cuisinart Stick Blender. It is affordable and easy to use. It doesn’t have to be completely smooth, but there shouldn’t be any large chunks.

4. Push the cooled mixture through a fine mesh strainer.  I recommend the OXO Steel 6-Inch StrainerCherry Syrup recipe

5. The mixture should yield about 4 ounces of cherry syrup.

6. Add the cherry syrup to plain seltzer water. I used my SodaStream Fountain Jet Home Soda Maker, which I absolutely love (and is on sale right now!).

Wondering what to do with the  solids that are left over? I like to mix them into my Stonyfield French Vanilla yogurt! It is SO good! Can’t let that cherry yumminess go to waste.
