Inexpensive Summer Picnic Ideas for Memorial Day

Summer PIcnic image.pngThe most important part of any party (at least in my family!) is the food.  But that is also one of the most expensive aspects.  Here are some of my favorite go-to summer picnic ideas that are delicious, easy to make, and won’t break the bank!

Update: Watch my Segment on Fox Rochester describing all these ideas

BBQ Chicken Pizza on the grill: It’s not a summer party without grilled meat. But meat is often the most costly item on the menu. My solution is to make thin crust pizzas with cheese, barbecue sauce, and shredded chicken and heat them on the grill. It is delicious, easy to eat, and satisfies everyone’s cravings without requiring pounds and pounds of meat.

Broccoli Slaw Salad with Yogurt Dressing: This is a healthy alternative to mayonnaise-based coleslaw or potato salads. It is also inexpensive and easy to throw together. See the full recipe here.

Fruit Pizza

Fruit Pizza: One of my family’s favorite desserts. It’s easy to prepare, addictingly good, and feeds a lot of people inexpensively.  Find my favorite fruit pizza recipe here.
