Putting toxic chemicals under your arms stinks! That’s why MightyNest, an internet retailer of extraordinarily high quality and safe products for your home and family, asked me to put non-toxic Pit Paste to the test. Find out why you should choose a natural deodorant, then take the pledge below. Your pits will thank you, and you could win a Happy Pit Pack from MightyNest!
If you’ve been reading Mindfully Frugal Mom for any amount of time, you know that I try to live a natural lifestyle focused on reducing exposure to harmful toxins. From using essential oils to eating local, there are lots of ways to reduce our chemical exposure. I use the oil cleansing method to wash my face, make my own body wash, and condition my hair with coconut oil.
So you probably just assume I already use a natural deodorant.
But until a week ago, I didn’t. I could give all sorts of reasons why not, but it all comes down to one thing: No one wants to stink. So for years I’ve been using the same drugstore brand. Yes, I know that it is full of aluminum, parabens, and synthetic fragrances, but what about the stinky factor??
The first thing I noticed about the Primal Pit Paste (seriously, the name!) was the smell. As soon as I unscrewed the top, the faintly sweet lavender scent hit me. It’s not overly herbaceous or medicinal smelling, which I appreciate.
Also, since Primal Pit Paste is made of a coconut oil and beeswax base, it is essentially solid. I learned to hold it up to my skin for a few moments before applying to let it soften up. It’s also important not to over-apply. It’s a pretty potent blend with the lavender essential oils, so only a small amount of product is required. Two or three swipes, max, is all you need.
What I love about Primal Pit Paste:
- The ingredient list – contains only 6 toxin-free, completely natural ingredients.
- The smell is amazing.
- Works well for daily activities
A few caveats:
- May need a re-application during the day, especially if exercise is a part of your day
- Cost – at $11.95 for one stick, it is more expensive than most conventional deodorants. However, this stick is going to last FOREVER, since so little needs to be used.
But here’s my favorite part: when you purchase Primal Pit paste through Mighty Nest, they will donate 15% of your order to the school of YOUR choice through the Mightynest for Schools Program.
Instead of spending their marketing dollars on ads, MightNest is giving those funds back to any school you choose. This is a great way to encourage healthy choices while fundraising for your school or homeschooling organization.
Here’s how it works:
- Take the MightyNest Pledge and choose the school you’d like to support
- Register using either your Facebook account or an email address
- Earn points for your school and invite more people to sign up to help your school via email or Facebook
