Being at the BlogHer conferene in Chicago was educational, inspiring, and thought-provoking. But I also got to do super-cool things, like interview Dr. Travis Stork from The Doctors.
Let me be completely upfront and admit that I never watch The Doctors, and when I have been in the room when it is on, it tends to annoy and infuriate me with information that is either hopelessly generic, appearance-centered, or just wrong information.
That said, I have nothing against Dr. Travis Stork personally (ok, well him starring on The Bachelor is less than endearing), and the fact that he is a spokesperson for Simply Saline, a brand of natural cold and allergy remedies, encouraged me.
Simply Saline offered me a chance to have a short sit-down chat with Travis at the BlogHer Expo hall, and I was thrilled to do it. I mean, seriously, I get to talk to a semi-hot famous guy one-on-one for a few minutes. Twist my arm.
Since he does promote Simply Saline, I asked Travis if there are any natural or alternative remedies that he personally uses. Since his views on The Doctors skew pretty conventional, I was curious if he gave any credence to non-drug remedies. In case you are wondering, Travis Stork endorses:
- hot tea with honey
- chicken soup (he cited research to back this up)
- Eating “the rainbow” — which I guess includes fresh fruits and vegetables – for immune health
- using Simply Saline as a nasal rinse
Overall, solid, if not earth-shattering, information. And I will say, it’s nice to see someone with national influence promoting something other than a drug company. I personally have purchased Simply Saline products in the past and will probably buy them in the future because I think a nasal rinse is a great way to clear out germs and allergens naturally.
What do you think about Dr. Travis Stork’s comments? What would YOU ask him?
