4th Of July Dessert Recipe: Berry Yogurt Trifle

Something about the fourth of July brings me right back to being 10 years old and watching the Independence Day parade march down Main Street. Every year I looked forward to my aunt’s fruit pizza, replete with strawberries and blueberries in a boisterous flag pattern.  I like to put my spin on my aunt’s 4th of July Dessert Recipe by making it into a Berry-Yogurt trifle.

4th of July Dessert Recipe

Trifles look so fancy and fun for a holiday picnic, but this recipe makes them super-simple to put together. Add a cookie “star” topper on each one, and you have a dessert that is special enough for company but yummy and easy enough for every day.

Add fresh, organic Earthbound Farms berries and delicious, healthful Stonyfield Greek Yogurt, and this is a dessert that tastes good and feels good.

Stonyfield Organic Greek Yogurt

This really isn’t even a recipe — but here’s what you need to throw together. 😉 I like to do individual trifles in plain diner glasses, but you could also do this in a trifle bowl. Just adjust the amounts.

For the yogurt filling:

  • 1 cups Stonyfield Organic Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 cup (4 oz) Stonyfield Organic Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla

1.  Whip the heavy cream for 5 minutes until it forms stiff peaks.

2. Add the sugar and whip again for 1 minute.

3. Fold in the Stonyfield greek yogurt and vanilla. Set aside or store in the refrigerator.

To assemble:

1. Layer fresh Earthbound Farms raspberries on the bottom of the glass.

2. Dollop a layer of the yogurt mixture on top of the raspberries.

3. Add a layer of Earthbound farms blueberries.

4. Top with another layer of the yogurt mixture and garnish with a sugar cookie star and some more berries.
