The Best Green Juice Recipe: Cheap & Green in 2013

Green Smoothie

Since New Years, I’ve been really trying to detox from  sugar, white grains, and basically all processed crap.  I’m definitely NOT perfect, but I’ve been making small steps towards being just a little less processed. I always start each morning with my 1-ingredient Lemon Juice Detox, but I also make myself green juice a few times a week. My favorite green juice recipe is full of dark greens, vitamin C, and nutrients to flush all the bad stuff out of my system.  I also notice an energy kick after I drink my green juice. It’s not quite the same as a cup of coffee, but I feel better after green juice than I do after coffee.

This is all you need to make a beautiful, vitamin-packed drink to power you through the day:

The Best Green Juice Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups kale leaves, cleaned and roughly chopped (can also use spinach)
  • 2 celery stems
  • 1/2-1 apple (depending on how sweet you like it)
  • 2-3 thin slices of raw ginger
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon (I don't put the whole lemon in the juicer because the rind will make the juice too sour)
  • 1/2 Cup fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves

Instructions

  1. In a juicer (like this one), combine all ingredients until thoroughly juiced.
  2. If you don't have a juicer, you can also use a high-powered blender like the Vitamix or the Blendtec
  3. Drink fresh.

Do you juice? Will you try green juice?
