I’ll be speaking with Norma Holland this morning (follow her on twitter, she’s fabulous) about how to save money at the grocery store by organizing a coupon binder.
Being organized is the key to success in couponing, so if you have resolved to finally save some money in 2013, getting your coupon binder organized is a great way to start.

First, you need to gather your materials. Here is what I use:
- 3″ size 3-ring Binder OR a Zipper Binder
- Baseball card holders
- Photo Album inserts
- Plastic 3-hole punch folders
- Dividers
Set it up:
Create 5-6 sections using the dividers. In each section, place two baseball card pages and 2 photo album inserts. These are for coupons of various size.

2 or 3 of the Plastic folders go in the front of the binder. I use these for store coupons for each specific store I shop at.

Place 3 of the plastic folders in the back of the binder. These are for your whole coupon inserts: Red Plum, Smart Source, and P & G.

Tips:
- I organize my sections by the layout of the grocery store I shop at the most.
- A Zipper binder is helpful if you drop your binder, then the contents won’t fall all over the floor (or more likely, the parking lot).
- I only clip internet printables, coupons for items we use regularly, and coupons that I know match with a sale that week.
Do you have a coupon binder? Do you find couponing a bit easier when you’re organized?

Such great tips! I have to get organized and do this in 2013!
I have tried this method and have a little trouble with it. Usually I keep mine in a cardboard box under categories.
I have a binder, but never remember to use it! I really need to get back into clipping coupons. Thanks for the tips!
My mother was always very into coupons and was also very organized about them. I did not inherit her coupon organizing skills.
I don’t clip all my coupons either. I have a file at home with the whole inserts organized by date. I also carry a small accordian file orgnizer with me in my purse. The front sections are by store (like wegmans, target, tops, etc.) and the rest is alphabetical by brand name. I put my internet printables and coupons for things I regularly use. It’s a similar strategy to yours. I can send pics if you’re interested.
What I would LOVE to see is a coupon database app so I can bring my whole inserts and be able to clip from them easily in store. Searching the website database is not easy!
