While I absolutely rock Instagram, I’ve always been a big believer in professional photographs. Ok, maybe I didn’t get my children’s 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, etc. pics done. I would rather spend my money less frequently to get higher quality photos composed by someone who photographs for a living.
What I don’t believe in? Cookie cutter “portraits” that don’t capture anything about the subject’s personality.
That is exactly what you WON’T get with John Schlia Photography. My family and I had the pleasure of spending a morning with John at the Seneca Park Zoo last week, where he photographed my kids in their “natural habitat” and had a lot of fun!
John was so easy to work with. He had already scouted out the zoo for possible shots and had several ideas of set-ups, but he also allowed for some spontaneous shots as well — he was prepared, yet flexible. It made for a really fun and easy going morning, especially when you have kids who don’t always want to “smile nicely.”
Case in point:
The Monkey and Bunny ears were John’s idea.
He literally had them up his sleeve.
And they made for such a fun family portrait (warning: Christmas card spoiler alert!!):
And more gratuitously cute pics:
Bottom line? I totally would recommend John Schlia photography to any of my friends. If you’re in the Rochester/Finger Lakes/Buffalo/CNY area, I think you should probably give him a call. Now, because he’s booking up fast.
John knows my readers want a deal. When you contact John Schlia Photography below, you’ll get a FREE mini-album when you purchase a portrait session!
Disclosure: John Schlia Photography is one of my spotlighted sponsors for the month of October. He provided a photo session for my family free of charge. My opinions are completely my own, and I truly would recommend John to anyone! He was that awesome.

Gorgeous photos! I have tears in my eyes over how beautifully John captured your family’s warmth and sweetness. Why am I so far away from NY, again?!
Thanks Gretchen! You’re far away from NY because you have a beautiful, and daring family.
But the east coast misses you.
