If you’ve been reading this site for any amount of time, you know I like to save money. So for for the #GoGreenGetFit challenge, I really wanted a pair of truly multipurpose sneakers that I could use to do EVERYTHING in. I didn’t want to purchase separate shoes for hiking, water sports, and running.
I checked out several different options from PlanetShoes.com, a socially conscious online shoe store, and ended up choosing the VivoBarefoot Breatho Trail. It’s marketed as “the ultimate trail running shoe,” but I think it’s fabulous for a range of more everyday pursuits.
The VivoBarefoot is unbelievably lightweight yet durable and rugged for all sorts of activities. I particularly like how the toe box is made of light mesh — it feels breathable and cool, even on hot days. Almost like being barefoot, but with a decent amount of support, which I need.
And call me shallow, but I really love that it is kind of a cute shoe — not a traditional crunchy looking hiking shoe, even though it is 100% vegan. 
After three straight days on my feet at BlogHer ’12 in NYC, I was SO glad I packed my VivoBarefoots for traveling. One the morning I left NYC, I was up at 5 am, wrestled 4 bags across town, into a cab, and onto the train. My feet that had been aching the day before thanked me!

I like that the PlanetShoes website is easy to navigate and has lots of options to sort. If I can’t find what I want, I won’t buy from your store. Makes sense, eh?
