Go Green, Get Fit! What Have I gotten Myself Into??

So for the past year, I have completely deluded myself into thinking that just because I am at my pre-pregnancy, wedding day weight, I can basically eat whatever I want and not work out.

Wrong.

I posed for a picture a couple of weeks ago, thinking I looked pretty good, and then when I saw it uploaded onto the computer, my heart sank. Flabby arms. No-longer-flat stomach.

Is it a horrible picture? Not at all.

Do I like the way my stomach bulges out and you can practically see my separated ab muscles? Not even a little bit.

I could totally be 4-5 months pregnant in this picture, for realz.

I am SO ready for the Go Green, Get Fit Challenge!! Basically, me and about 20 other AWESOME green bloggers are getting together to support each other — and everyone else who comes along for the ride — in achieving our fitness ad health goals. Goals vary from the extreme — marathons and triathalons — to the modest — like my goal of fitting in yoga practice Every.Single.Day.

Because each of these green bloggers and I care about sustainability and natural health, we also hope to introduce you to some companies that also care about those things.

What are my goals?

1. 15 minutes of Yoga Practice. Every Day. Non-Negotiable. My hope is that this helps me both physically AND mentally to recharge and face the challenges of the day.

2. 1 Yoga Class a week. Since this is also a frugal blog, I hope to find a FREE local class to attend every week. I’ll keep you updated on my progress.

3. Some Jillian-esque weight training.  I need to firm up, period.

Who is with me?? I’d love to hear about your fitness or health goals for the coming months! And please join us on June 18, when the Go Green Get Fit Challenge begins!

In the meantime, join us on  Facebook to get details and updates!

You can also follow the Go Green, Get Fit Challenge on  PinterestHealthy Home Magazine, and Twitter.

I have the same shape as you after 3 kids. If you find a free yoga class that would be awesome! I am local as well:) I have been going to a PT for my ab seperation.

    • Laura says:

That ab separation is the pits isn’t it?! I’m working my way through one as well, but the exercises work and I’m thrilled to be a part of GGGF, too.

A blog post or two on good, deep yoga stretches would be fantastic! Ahem. :)

I am excited about this. I am not cleared to workout yet since I just had my 2nd daughter on May 23rd – but I would love to start this challenge with you and everyone else. I will just keep it more about eating. I have a
ready lost 19.5 lbs (under what I weighed before I got pregnant). It feels great!

    • Sarah says:

Congratulations on your daughter, Carlye! Part of this for me is really getting back to eating clean and getting rid of the processed foods. I’m pretty good at this, except when it comes to certain snack foods. :) I’m hoping to include some good whole foods snacking recipes.

      • Carlye says:

Thank you. We are trying to start to eat clean too. It has been interesting especially since I haven’t really read our labels before. We couldn’t believe what was in the foods we were eating. We eat lots of fresh foods but things like cereal, condiments, juices and such were not as ” healthy” as we thought they were. I can’t wait for your recipes.

  3. First, I think you look great now, but I also know how great you will FEEL after taking on this challenge. I know I am already, even though we haven’t officially begun.

Second, what is this about a PT for separated abs? My youngest is almost 4 and I was thinking it was never going to get better at this point.

  4. andrea says:

I go to a physical therpist who is helping bring back my abs. She has been giving me excerises to do. SO far I only notice a difference when I do say a plank. I have to wear a girdle- binder- all day everyday she said that helps in bringing it back as well.

  5. Claire says:

Lofty goals, Sarah – good for you! I, too, could use some goals and inspiration as I can no longer rest on my main weight-maintaining strategy — nursing — anymore. Out with the nursing bra, in with the jogging bra!

  6. Paige says:

We are so hard on ourselves! I think you look gorgeous. And the past few months since I’ve been doing Crossfit is the longest stretch in 10 years without some stranger asking when I am due! :)

  7. Lynn says:

You look beautiful! It’s admirable to want to get in better shape but I hope you know how perfect you are even if your tummy bulges a bit. Have fun with the challenge!
