Your Local CSA Spotlight: Lagoner Farms

Still wondering if a CSA (community supported agriculture) may be right for you? I hope that this series shines a spotlight on local farms and CSA programs that are worth checking out! You can read about my personal CSA experience as well.

This week we’re heading over to Lagoner Farms in Williamson, NY. Farmer Jake Lagoner graciously agreed to answer my questions.

How many weeks does it last? 

Our shares run for 22 weeks starting in mid-June. Half Shares are $350; Full Shares are $650.

Our 1/2 Share members get 6-8 items every week.
Our full share members get 8-15 items every week
The items are chosen for the share members

Is it delivery or pick-up?
Our CSA is pickup & delivery csa. We have 3 pickup locations:

Thursdays :SouthWedge Farmers markets 4-6
                 Irondequoit Farmers Market   4-6
Saturdays: Pittsford Farmers Market 9-11
                Lagoner Farms in Williamson 10-1
We will deliver to offices that order 10 or more shares.

Is there a work requirement?

Nope.

Fun Facts

As a Share Member you are allowed to visit our farm and substitute your weekly share of the following crops for double the quantity when you pick them yourself.

  • • Strawberries
  • • Blueberries
  • • Apples

Any share member receives 10% off all purchases at our farm market in Williamson for the year.

We offer a homemade Jam add on for $4 a week and a homemade pie add on for $11 a week. We use our fresh fruits in both items. (Ed. Note: YUM!!)

We are a family farm that offers fruits and vegetables. The vegetables are grown using organic practices and the fruits are grown using IPM method. We are currently the 5th generation working the farm. We have been recognized by the state of NY as a century farm. We grow more than 100 varieties of fruits and vegetables.
